Kids cut letters and shapes from air dry clay, sand and paint them once hardened, seal with gloss glaze, and glue on magnets for a personalized fridge display.

Materials Needed

  • Air dry clay
  • Clay tools
  • Small bowl of water
  • Sandpaper
  • Acrylic paints
  • Gloss glaze
  • Paint brushes 
  • Magnets
  • Hot glue

Instructions

  1. 1. Start by rolling out your air dry clay, then using your tools cut out letters and shapes as desired.
  2. 2. Use your fingers and a little water to smooth out any cracks, flaws, or rough edges. Gently shape, then place on parchment paper to start drying.
  3. 3. Place them in a dry place to harden overnight. Summer heat outside is the perfect overnight "oven"!
  4. 4. Once they are completely dry, use sandpaper to smooth out the edges and tops. Gently dust to clean.
  5. 5. Paint as desired!
  6. 6. Once your paint colors have dried, add a clear gloss glaze to seal and add shine. Let dry completely.
  7. 7. Glue your magnets onto the back, and enjoy!
