Comb Painting Activity

Published: Sep 4, 2026

A mess-friendly painting project — kids drag combs through rows of acrylic paint on kraft paper to create textured, wavy patterns, then dry, cut, and frame the results.

Comb Painting Activity

Materials Needed

  • Acrylic paints
  • Various combs
  • Thick kraft paper

Instructions

  1. 1. Roll out your thick kraft paper (tip: you can also add a plastic trash bag under for extra protection).
  2. 2. Squeeze out a row of paint colors (no wider than the comb you are going to use), brush down, then back up creating a pattern!
  3. 3. Experiment and comb around however you want!
  4. 4. You can let them dry completely, cut them out from the paper and frame is desired.
